Howard H. Booker Jr. Obituary
Howard H. Booker, Jr.

AGE: 50 • Claymont, DE

Howard Henry Booker, Jr., was born in Wilmington, Delaware, on July 20, 1965 to Lelia K. Booker and the late Howard H. Booker, Sr. He passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Claymont, Delaware.

Howard participated in numerous activities growing up like the Boy Scouts and sports with the Claymont Youth Athletic Association (football, basketball) Claymont High School football team. He graduated from Claymont High School in 1983. He frequently commented those youthful days were his best times. Howard attended Cheyney University and later transitioned to a position with the FBI in Washington, D.C. This was not his path so he relocated back to Claymont, Delaware. He found new opportunities and a way to give back to the community. Following in his father's footsteps, he began coaching youth football for C.Y.A.A. and the Brandywine Warriors. Always a child at heart - in 1992 he began his employment with Toys -R-Us at the Newark location. Here he made some of his greatest friendships. Working always in the electronic area kept his fascination with the progression of technology active.

"Remember the force will be with you always." Stated Obi Wan Kenobi. Anyone that knew Howard knows he believed it was no coincidence that mankind landed on the Moon on his birthday. His interests and activities varied. He loved Pink Floyd music (Dark Side of the Moon). He had a lifelong science fiction curiosity including all there is to know about "Dr. Who". Some might say his life had Jedi qualities. He was an avid collector of Star Wars, Star Trek and marvel character memorabilia. Reading was his quiet interest. He enjoyed the great works in literature and knew most of Shakespeare's plays and poems.

"Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the force." - Yoda. Howard is survived by his mother, Lelia K. Booker; sister, Dawn Vanderslice and brother in law, Robert Vanderslice; brother, Maurice Johnson; nieces, Brittanie Booker and Jasmine Johnson; aunts, Alice Kirkand and Linda Morcock; uncle, David Kirkland and wife Carol Kirkland and a host of loving relatives and friends. Services will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3210 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, Delaware, 19703 on Monday, December 28th 2015. Viewing will be held 10-11am. Funeral Mass will begin at 11am. Internment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in Howard's memory to the Claymont Community Center, 3301 Green Street, Claymont, Delaware, 19703.
