departed this life on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at University of Penn Hospital surrounded by family.

Howard worked for 26 yrs. at VWR International in Bridgeport, NJ, where he later retired. He enjoyed Nascar (Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr.), Baseball, Hockey, a diehard EAGLES fan. He also enjoyed bowling, playing softball, watching game shows, doing crossword puzzle and reading on his Kindle.

Howard is survived by his wife of 19yrs, Wilhelmina Leonardo-Rooney; 2 daughters, Turquoise Garcia and Teona Leonardo; Brother, Gary Rooney; 2 stepbrothers, Jack Fitzgerald and Walter Fitzgerald; Half- sister, Darlene Rooney; Brother in-law, Linden Leonardo; 8 grandchildren, Jaier, Jumanah, Jaianah, Jihadah, Jibran, Jazib, Jaza, (Hightower), Chase Simmons; 2 stepgrandchildren Jihad and Najeer Watson-Hightower; his dog Boots and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Howard was preceded in death his parents Mamie C. Rooney (Comley) and Vaughn F. Rooney, sister Wendy Huebner.

Viewing will be held Monday, April 11, 2016 10am-11am at The House of Wright Mortuary, 208 E. 35th St., Wilm., DE.

Celebration of Life will following the viewing at 11:00 am. Burial will take place in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd., Bear, DE 19701 on Monday, April 11, at 2pm.
