Irene Udinski (McMorran)

AGE: 87 • Wilmington, DE

Irene Udinski (McMorran), age 87, passed away Thursday, November 10th, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family after a long illness.

Irene was born September 8, 1929 in Lincoln, NH to the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry McMorran. She graduated from Philadelphia School of Business and moved to Rochester NY to pursue a career in accounting. She met her husband Edward in Rochester where they were married on April 19, 1952. They remained devoted to one another for 58 years.

They moved their family to Wilmington, DE in 1964 where they raised their five children. Irene enjoyed a 40 year career in banking. She retired from WSFS after 25 years and decided to go back to work where she enjoyed another 15 years with Wilmington Trust and M&T Bank, retiring in 2012.

Irene's greatest joy was spending time with her children. She and her husband loved taking their children and grandchildren on adventures to the New Hampshire White Mountains and the Delaware beaches. She was a devoted mother who doted on her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an active member of St. James Church and the Bazaar Group for over 50 years where she enjoyed making crafts and spending time with her very large circle of friends. She was quick witted, always smiling and loved by all. Her loving ways and kindness to her family and friends will always be remembered.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, son, William and granddaughter, Diana. She is survived by her caregivers, daughters, Sherrie Bond of Wilmington, Nancy Choma and husband, John of Lewes, grandchildren Carley Bond of Wilmington, John Choma and his wife, Elizabeth of Aldie, VA, great grandchildren, Kate and Emma Choma. She is also survived by her son, Mark Udinski, wife, Peggy of Newark, daughter, Janet Taylor of Wilmington, grandchildren, Raine, Megan, Arianna, Pam, Ed, Lindsay and thirteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Frances Bruni, Gertrude McDowell and her brother, Phillip McMorran. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Giancola of Webster NY, Olive Door of New London, NH, Esther Mann of Sudbury MA and sister in law, Genevieve Bursiewicz of Schenectady, NY

Funeral services will be offered on Wednesday November 16th at 11:00 am at St. James Episcopal Church, 2106 St. James Church Rd., Wilmington, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday November 15th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Pike Creek.
