Jack R. Strosnider Obituary
Jack R. Strosnider

AGE: 81 • Wilmington

Jack R. Strosnider passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on January 17, 2016, just 4 days shy of his 82nd birthday. Born in Gore, VA, he was the son of the late Ralph R. and Madge Ada Strosnider.

Jack was a graduate of P.S. DuPont High School Class of 1952, where he was a standout athlete, as well as Goldey Beacom College. During his time at P.S. DuPont, he was Athlete of the Year, where he was a 4 sport letterman. However, there was no sport that he didn't excel in. In later years, he was an accomplished golfer. As a former baseball player, Jack also enjoyed watching the Phillies.

Jack was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. For over 20 years, Jack worked at Lowes, where he managed stores in Wilmington and Louisville, KY. In 1975, Jack went to work for Lance Crackers in Wilkes Barre, PA, where he was a Salesman and a Branch Manager until his retirement in 1995.

Jack's favorite moments were spending time with his family, as well as his group of lifelong high school buddies with whom he played poker with. Jack will be remembered for his dry sense of humor and always having good jokes to tell.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of almost 38 years, Kathryn I. (Farra); his sons, Michael J. (Linda) and Billy (Barbara); his daughter, Stacy G. Adams; and 6 grandchildren, Jacob, Ryan, Sarah, Autumn, Gillian, and B.J. He was also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Anne Herman and several nieces and nephew, as well as his close knit group of many lifelong friends. Jack was predeceased by his parents; his brother, John Strosnider; and his first wife, Barbara G. Strosnider.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016, from 11 AM to 12 Noon at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808, where a Celebration of Jack's Life will begin at 12 Noon. Interment will be private.
