James A. "Jim" Wingate, Sr.

AGE: 59 • New Castle

James A. Wingate, Sr., age 59, of New Castle, DE, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, April 25, 2015. Jim loved to play his guitar and sing - especially in church. He was a Philadelphia Sports teams fanatic. Jim enjoyed playing softball for many years. He was a Civil War enthusiast. Jim cherished his family most of all and loved being with them especially during the holidays.

Jim is survived by his wife, Marie S. Wingate; mother, Anna "Marie" Wingate; 3 sons: James A. Wingate Jr. (Amy), Joseph A. Wingate, Sr. (Trisha), James King; 2 daughters, Jeanett Cameron and Carrie Cornett; 10 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Vivian Windsor (Ron), Ann McCartney, and Ruth Rawlins; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Wingate, Jr.; brother, Thomas Weaver; and 2 brothers-in-law, Joseph McCartney and Rodney Rawlins.

A visitation will be held Monday, May 4, 2015 from 9-11 AM in the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark DE 19702 followed by a service in celebration of Jim's life at 11 AM. Burial will follow in White Clay Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Jim's memory to Holiness Christian Academy, 30 Dogwood Rd., Elkton, MD 21921.
