James David Goebel

AGE: 79 • Manning, SC

James David Goebel, 79, husband of Mary DiSylvestro Goebel, died Sunday, June 28, 2015, at his home in Manning, SC. Born April 25, 1936, in Wilmington, DE, he was a son of the late John Goebel and Cecilia Flynn Goebel.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years Mary; three daughters, Cecilia Rozumalski (Tony) of New Castle, DE, Joanne Connolly (Bob) of Avondale, PA and Michele Radecki (Randy) of New London, PA; brother, John D. Goebel of Rehoboth, DE; five grandchildren, Megan, Melissa, Austen, Sean and Abbigail; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Jim proudly served in the Air Force after graduating from Salesianum Catholic School; worked before and after his military service for Dupont, retiring after 40 years. He later worked for the Blue Rocks and was a bus driver for the Colonial School District. He then moved to Manning South Carolina with his wife Mary. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, the Mid Carolina Gun Club, and the Wyboo Golf Club Men's League where he had three holes in one.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. September 12, 2015, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wilmington with Rev. William Hazzard officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Embrace Hospice, 1831 W. Evans St., Suite 315, Florence, SC 29501 or Salesianum Catholic School, 1801 North Broom Street, Wilmington, DE 19802.
