James E. Johnson Obituary
James E. Johnson

James Earl (Jake) Johnson, age 31, passed away on Saturday September 24th, 2016. He was born in Oil City, Pennsylvania. Jake is survived by his mother Alice P. Johnson, of Wilmington, his sisters Laurie (Keith) Kreider of Holtwood, PA and Stephanie (Matt) Tolson of Bear, DE. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews who loved and adored him. James was preceded in death by his father, Michael and his brother Mike.

Jake grew up in Newark and attended Christiana High School. During his youth, he played on Brookside and Suburban Little League. He had a love for the game and was a heavy hitter that could knock it out of the park.

His true love was the ocean. Jake loved fishing and crabbing with his mom, in Lewes, Delaware, more than anything. Without hesitation, he would show off the big catch of the day and then cook it for dinner. This past summer was spent in the ocean riding waves, boogie boarding and catching some rays. When he wasn't fishing, you could catch him at a local pool hall, a passion that he learned from his Dad. He loved to show off his moves and was never shy about just how good he was. Jake loved music and dancing. He spent his last birthday dancing, singing and entertaining himself and his mom.

He will be remembered by his family and friends as a loving, caring, generous, humorous man. He would not hesitate to help his family and friends when they were in need. Those pieces of his spirit will be missed the most.

Memorial services will be held at Marshallton United Methodist Church, 1105 Stanton Road, Wilmington, on Monday, October 3, 2016. Visitation will be from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, with the service beginning at 2pm.
