AGE: 91 • Bear

James E. Mossberg, age 91, of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2016. Born to the late Nelse and Frances Mossberg of Roselle, New Jersey, he graduated from Clarkson College in 1950, where he had balanced his studies with being a tennis player. James retired from Exxon after more than 35 years of service as a chemical engineer. During his career, he designed cooling towers for oil refineries and acted as an international consultant, including work on the Alaskan pipeline. James was married to his loving wife, Marion, for 57 years prior to her passing, and he cherished his family and grandchildren. James enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing table tennis. A model railroad enthusiast, he enjoyed designing and building his own layout. James loved reading science fiction. He especially delighted in sightseeing and traveled extensively, both here and abroad.

James is survived by his sons, Jim Mossberg (Liz) and Tom Mossberg (Debbie); his daughter Kathy Martin (Tim); grandchildren: Michelle (Vern), Matthew, David (Isel), Anne, Jennifer, Stacie (Andrew), and Eric; and great-grandson, Evon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion S. Mossberg.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, from 10 to 11 am, followed by a service in celebration of his life at 11 am at Bible Fellowship Church of Newark, 808 S. Old Baltimore Pike, Newark, DE 19702. Burial will follow at 2pm at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2645 Chesapeake City Rd, Bear, DE 19701.
