James T. "Ted" Thomas Jr. Obituary
James T. Thomas, Jr. "Ted"

AGE: 78 • Wilmington

James T. Thomas, Jr., "Ted", age 78, of Wilmington, DE, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, July 14, 2016. He graduated from P.S. Dupont High School in 1956. He was a three-sport standout for the "Dynamiters" and pitched in the 1955 state championship game beating long-time rival Salesianum. Ted went on to play American Legion baseball and then Delaware Semi-Pro baseball on St. Anthony's team. He was even given a tryout with the Philadelphia Phillies. His love of baseball continued as he coached his sons in the Jefferson Farms and New Castle Little Leagues for many years. Ted was also a member of the St. Peter's Athletic Association in New Castle. An avid sports fan, Ted followed all the Philadelphia teams. He was the owner/operator of Electro-Art Sign Company with his long-time friend and business partner, Tom Rash.

Ted was a loving husband, devoted father, and beloved grandfather who attended and supported his grandchildren in their sports activities. Ted's greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. He will be missed by his sons, Jeff (Teresa) and Kenneth (Patricia); daughter, Amy Beth Grubb (Mark); grandchildren: Ryan, Casey, Haley, Mark, Morgan, Courtney, K.T. and Camryn; great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Hudson; and 3 sisters: Shirley Harting, Kathy Richwine, and Diane Oller. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, JoAnn Thomas; parents, James T. Sr., and Catherine Thomas; and sister, Peggy Jones. He is best remembered for his big laugh and great sense of humor.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2016 from 5:30-8:30 PM at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Road, Newark, DE 19702.
