AGE: 85 • Seaford

Janie Louise (Hardy) Riggleman, age 85, of Seaford, DE passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Lofland Park Center.

Janie was born May 4, 1930 in Hardy County, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Ottie Stoke Hardy and Bernice Ethel (Barr) Hardy.

Her greatest joy and contribution came as a mother and homemaker. She spent many years lovingly supporting her husband of 63 years, Ralph, as well as her four children, 13 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. She taught Sunday School for many years and loved being a part of the United Methodist Women and Bible studies in the churches she participated. Janie was an excellent cook and hospitality was extended to all. She also enjoyed sewing which was another expression of her love. She put her faith into action sharing it in her quiet way and always with a smile.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Riggleman, and her parents and two siblings, Howard Hardy and Norma Hiser. She is survived by her four children; Michael Riggleman and his wife Linda of Seaford, DE; Leslie Riggleman and his wife Denise of Seaford, DE; Mark Riggleman and his wife Angus of Katy, TX; and Karen (Riggleman)Handy and her husband Christopher of Seaford, DE, 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great- grandchild.

Also surviving is her three brothers; Lyle Hardy of Petersburg, WV; Victor Hardy and wife Betty of Fisher, WV; and Carl Hardy of Petersburg, WV. Her sisters surviving are Helen Hyre of Petersburg, WV; Lura Evans of Petersburg, WV; and Annalee Graham and husband Donald of Fort Ashby, WV. She is also survived by a brother-in law, Orval Riggleman and wife Juanita of Slanesville, WV and a sister-in law LaVaughn Hardy of Rig, WV. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, April 6th at 1 PM at Gethsemane United Methodist Church, 2701 Woodland Ferry Rd. Seaford, DE where friends may call from 12 to 1. The Rev. Rick Wessell will officiate.
