Jean Bennett Obituary
Jean Bennett

AGE: 69 • Wilmington, DE

Jean Bennett, born April 5th, 1946, passed away January 2nd, 2016..

She was born to Walter (Pat) Patterson and Mary Patterson Saxton and lived her entire life in New Castle County. She was loved by her family: her husband of 48 years, Richard; son, Craig Bennett, his wife, Kristina and children, Grantham and Wren, living in Piscataway, NJ; son, Blake Bennett, his wife, Ayesha and two children, Kaia and Grace, living in Hockessin, DE and her sister, Patricia Bailey and husband, Butch. Jean was predeceased by her youngest sister, Sherry Justice.

Jean's extended family included step brothers, Danny, Michael, and Patrick McLaughlin and Dave Saxton along with many nieces and nephews.

Jean graduated from DeLaWarr High School in 1964. She attended Oklahoma State University and later worked for Frank Gunnip Accounting and the Red Clay School District as a reading instructor. Her great joys in life were her two sons and the four grandchildren they gave her. She especially liked summering at the beach, sitting in the sun with a mystery novel constantly in her hand. She loved her soap operas and Pepsi Cola. She will be most closely associated with the Christmas holiday, when, for over thirty years, she would hold a Christmas Eve party for forty of her friends and family.

Jean made friends easily and loved them all. She had joy in her life from watching her two boys grow up successful with loving families. Most of all, her four beloved grandchildren brought an extreme sense of joy and fulfillment to her life.

A celebration of her life will be held at her home, 199 Creek Road (Brandywine Creek Road on Google), Wilmington, DE, 19803 on Saturday, January 16th, from noon till 4pm.
