AGE: 80 •

Age 80, passed away on September 17, 2015. Jean was born in Wilmington, DE on July 22, 1935, daughter of the late Dominic and Antonia (Longo) Malizia. She had worked at the DuPont Company, where she was able to experience one of her greatest joys of traveling the world. She enjoyed summers at Delaware Beaches and was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Jean was tremendously kind and generous. She was endlessly devoted to her family and possessed the deepest adoration for her loved ones, notably cherishing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jean will be dearly missed by the many lives she touched.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Samuel C. Swift, and 9 siblings. She is survived by her children, Antonia Belgrade, Lynn Righter (Larry), Christopher Swift (Cindy), and Andrew Swift (Sheila); grandchildren, Luke, Adam, Laura, Joseph, Erik, Kara, Sam, and Emma; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Lucille Bader; and many nieces and nephews.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Regal Heights Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center as well as Compassionate Care Hospice for the kind, attentive, and exemplary care given to Jean and her loved ones.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike in Hockessin, on Monday afternoon, September 21 at 1pm. Entombment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the CHARLES P. ARCARO FUNERAL HOME, 2309 Lancaster Ave in Wilmington, on Sunday evening, September 20 from 6-8pm and again on Monday, prior to mass, from 11am-12:15pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to United Cerebral Palsy of Delaware, 700A River Rd, Wilmington, DE 19809.
