AGE: 82 • Wilmington

Joan Parsons, age 82, of Wilmington went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Sunday, October 11, 2015.

Joan was born in Wilmington in 1933. She was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband of 48 years, Bernard L. Parsons, as well as her five siblings. She is survived by her children; Linda Sprogell (Clement Jr.) of Wilmington, DE, Keith Parsons (Angela) of West Chester, PA, Lee Parsons of Dover, DE, and daughter-in-law Karin Parsons of Dover, DE. She also leaves to cherish her memory 11 grandchildren; Nitasha, Kristyna, Christopher, Jeffrey, Tyler, Britton, Daniel, Joel, Heather, Andrew, and Stephen, as well as 9 great-grandchildren.

Joan loved baking her famous "Angel Food Cake" and "Chocolate Jumbles" that everyone knows and loves. She loved being a Nana and Grandmom to her grandchildren whom she adored. She enjoyed volunteering at Immanuel Church where she was a member for many years, and also helping people in any way that she was able to. Joan touched many lives and she will be greatly missed, and forever in our hearts.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at Ingleside Assisted Living for caring for her as if she were a part of their own families for the last 4 ½ years, and Chantel from Seasons Hospice for all of her help in caring for her.

A viewing will be held on Friday, October 16 from 10-11 am at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803 where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow the service in Silverbrook Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in memory of Joan be made to , PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929
