A lifelong Elkton resident, she was a graduate of Elkton High School, Class of 1951. She trained at Delaware Hospital, Wilmington DE where she received a degree as a registered nurse in 1954. Joanne was employed at the Delaware Hospital for several years.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, David L. Sentman, Sr.; children, Kelly Sentman Robinson and husband, Rob, Milton, GA and David L. Sentman, Jr. and wife, Donna, Avondale, PA; grandchildren, Casey Robinson, Andrew Robinson, Katelyn Sentman, Ryan Sentman, and Erin Sentman. In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Donald N. Sentman, Sr.

Joanne's family was the center of her life. Following retirement from nursing, she enjoyed cooking and entertaining family and friends. Her home was the location for family get-togethers and holiday celebrations. Even as her children and grandchildren moved away from Elkton, Christmas was always spent back home, renewing family connections and traditions. A week in Ocean City was a highlight of most summers for Joanne and the rest of the family. She was an avid reader and a serious sports fan. A game featuring the Orioles, Ravens or Maryland Terrapins got her full attention most evenings.

A private funeral service at Elkton United Methodist Church will be followed by interment in Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, Elkton, MD.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Elkton United Methodist Church, 219 E. Main St., Elkton, MD 21921.
