John J. "Jack" Dolan

John J. "Jack" Dolan 88, of Estero Florida died Saturday February 25, 2017 at his residence. John was born January 16, 1929 in Wilmington Delaware, a son of the late William and Julia (Sweeney) Dolan. He was a lifelong resident of New Castle County until moving to Estero Florida where he resided for the past 24 years.

John served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After returning home from the War, he worked for the Hercules Powder Company at the company's research center in Wilmington. He retired in 1984 after 30 years as a Senior Technologist.

He enjoyed traveling and being around family and friends. Before moving to Florida he had homes in Stanton and Long Neck where he greatly enjoyed fishing and boating. John was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone he met. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Ella F. Dolan; two sons, Randy F. (Lori) Dolan of Roanoke, Virginia and Tim E. (Linda) Dolan of Chapel Hill, Florida; four grandchildren, Kim Dolan, Stacey Dolan, Jenna Dolan and Sarah Dolan along with two great grandchildren, Chase and Chance.

He was preceded in death by his two brothers, William J. Dolan Jr. and Francis E. Dolan.

The family would like to thank Team 130 from Hope Hospice for the exceptional care they gave John in his last days and ask that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name be made to Joanne's House at Hope Hospice 27200 Imperial Parkway, Bonita Springs, Florida 34135.
