John Joseph Brady Obituary
John Joseph Brady

In loving memory of John J. Brady, who passed away from natural causes on January 9, 2017, in Wilmington, Delaware, with his family by his side. Born in Philadelphia to the late John Joseph Brady and Olga Marie Brady (nee Nardello), on August 16, 1937, he was a loving and devoted father, whose advice was always "Just do your best." John is survived by his seven children Beth Angelini, John Joseph Brady (spouse Dina Tran Brady), Kathleen Kowalski, Julie Brady (spouse Christopher Brobin), Donna Brady Raziano (spouse Joseph Raziano), Diane Brady Janosek (spouse James Janosek), and Ryan Brady (spouse Rebecca Herr Brady), all children with his first wife Marianne Agnes Brady (nee Mellon). He is also survived by his younger brother Thomas Brady (spouse Joanne), and 16 grandchildren (Antonio, Nicole, Declan, Derek, Drake, Dalton, Diane, Andrew, Kathryn, Ian, Luke, Lauren, Joseph, Mary, Joseph, and Monica). John was predeceased by his second wife Mary Ann Brady (nee Conran). He is also survived by his sister-in-law Julia Conran, stepson John Higgins, and several cousins, nephews and a niece.

John Brady grew up in Folcroft and Drexel Hill in Delaware County PA. He attended St George Grammar School and St James Roman Catholic High School for Boys and graduated in 1955. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry (1960) on a full academic scholarship and a Master's degree in Psychology (1991), both from LaSalle University in Philadelphia. During college, he took a leave of absence to attend St. Charles Borromeo Seminary. He was a career chemist at Rohm & Hass Chemical Company, formerly a manufacturer of specialty chemicals for end use markets. John's career with Rohm & Haas took him and his family to facilities in Philadelphia; Toronto, Canada; Calgary, Canada; Chicago, Illinois; and finally to his last assignment at the firm's headquarters on Independence Mall in Philadelphia until his retirement in 1996.

John Brady taught all of his seven children the value of education, loyalty to one's faith, a strong work ethic and the obligation to place family first. He was a faithful Roman Catholic worshiper, and loved the Lord. He was not afraid to see the Lord in eternal glory. John firmly believed, in his own words, "After doing God's work, one returns to the Lord."

John Brady's life will be celebrated in a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, 2013 Gilpin Ave., Wilmington, Delaware at 10 a.m., Jan 13, 2017. Viewing will be from 8-9:30 a.m. at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Patrick Cemetery in Norristown, PA.
