AGE: 78 • Claymont

passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, April 18, 2016.

Born in Wilmington, Joseph was the son of the late Joseph Prucino and Elizabeth McGuckin McLaughlin and stepson of the late Edward McLaughlin. He was a proud graduate of St. Patrick's School, Salesianum School (Class of 1955) and Cornell University. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy for 23 years, retiring as Lieutenant Commander in 1978. Afterward, he had a second career as a district manager in hospital food management until his retirement in 2000. Joseph was a man of great faith and devotion to the Blessed Mother and was a member of St. Patrick's Church. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Michael McLaughlin, and two granddaughters, Mary and Amelia Orth.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of 57 years, Pauline "Jill" (Senn) Prucino; his son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Michelle Prucino of Newark; and his daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and Walter Ferris, Theresa Ciritella and Janine and Ned Orth, all of Wilmington; grandchildren Christine (Louis), Kevin, Rebecca (Justin), Gregory, Brennan, Mark, Jill, Laura, Joseph, Stephen, and Kathryn; great-grandchildren Seraphina and Louis.

The family would like to thank all the healthcare personnel that provided exceptional, compassionate care especially Dr. Gregory Masters and Dr. Vinod Kripula.

Friends and family are invited to visitation on Tuesday, April 26th between 6 and 8 PM at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick's Church, 1414 King Street, Wilmington, DE 19801. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.
