Joseph M. Reda Obituary
Joseph M. Reda

AGE: 73 • Elsmere

Joseph M Reda, age 73, of Elsmere, sadly passed away on the 14th of April. Joe was born in Wilmington, DE on January 26, 1943, son of the late Michael Reda and Louise (Ditomasso) Reda. Joe was full of life and loved many things, especially golf. He treasured his Sundays, in which he was in the routine of attending mass at St. Anthony's with his family, enjoying breakfast at Kozy Korner, and ending the day with a nice Sunday dinner-that included the rolls he had picked up from Difonzo's earlier that day. Joe was a sheet metal worker, by profession, for Local 19# at I.D. Griffith for 39 years. Although that was Joe's profession, he found solace in helping and serving others with his political work with the New Castle County Council; where he would build many important relationships. He cherished them all, but none more so than the lasting friendship with his aide, Chrissy Roberts. Joe had many roles that he played throughout his lifetime, the greatest of them being a devoted husband, loving father, and endlessly adoring Pop Pop.

Joe is predeceased by wife Donna Marie (Schilling) Reda and brother John Reda. He is survived by children Michael Reda and Lisa Lago (Pablo); grandchildren Madelynn Reda, Adrianna Reda, Nicole Lago, Bella Lago, and Joseph Lago; siblings Geraldine Wilson (Roger), and JoAnna Johnson (William).

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Seasons Hospice at Christiana Hospital for their exemplary care given to Joe.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 9th and DuPont Sts in Wilmington, on Thursday morning, April 21st at 12pm. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery. Visitations will be held at church on Thursday morning, prior to mass, from 9:30-11:45am.
