Joseph "Moper" Rich

AGE: 85 • Wilmington

Joseph "Moper" Rich, age 85, of Wilmington passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Christiana Hospital. The son of Dominick and Ida (Vitelli) Rich, Joseph was a lifelong resident of Wilmington. He was a graduate of H. Fletcher Brown Vocational High School, where he trained as a machinist. He served in the US Air Force Reserve, and worked at Electric Hose and Rubber Company, Pullman Company and Bond Crown and Cork. Joseph enjoyed playing cards with friends, and eating Italian delicacies prepared by family. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. In his youth, he was a talented baseball player. In his later years, he enjoyed fishing and hunting with friends. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Joseph is survived by his sisters, Lorraine Talmo (& husband Franny) and Mary Ann Rich (& husband Anthony Morash), both of Wilmington; his brother, Alfred Rich of Wilmington; his brother-in-law, Paul Pitrizzi of Millsboro; and his many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his sister Louise Pitrizzi; and brothers, Dominick Rich, Jr. and John Rich.

Joseph's family wishes to thank the many doctors, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and chaplains of Christiana Hospital for their exceptional and compassionate care of Joe during his illness. In addition, the family expresses its gratitude to the staff of Cadia Silverside Rehabilitation for their care and kindness during the past several years of his stay. Friends and family are invited to visit at the family at CHARLES P. ARCARO FUNERAL HOME, 2309 Lancaster Avenue in Wilmington, on Saturday, September 26 from 11 AM to 12 PM, with a memorial service immediately following at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately.
