Judith Gill Cucuzzella Obituary
Judith Gill Cucuzzella

AGE: 75 • Wilmington

After a long illness, Judith Gill Cucuzzella, age 75, passed away peacefully the morning of December 27, 2015 at her home of 40 years in Westover Hills, Wilmington DE.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Dr. Anthony L. Cucuzzella. She was dearly loved by her three children, Tony Rowe Cucuzzella of Wilmington; James Gill Cucuzzella of San Rafael, CA; Jeanie Cucuzzella McCuskey, of Wilmington, DE and by daughter-in-law Cindy Cole Cucuzzella and son-in-law Andrew Wilcox McCuskey. Judy treasured her five grandchildren: Carter (18), Cameron (16), and Will Cucuzzella (12) and Sarah (7) and James (4) McCuskey.

Judy was born in 1940 in Jersey City. She was a graduate of the Bergen School, attended Douglass College at Rutgers and received her nursing degree at the Jersey City Medical Center.

Judy and Anthony were married at the Hotel du Pont in 1962 in Wilmington, DE. She was a nurse in Philadelphia while her husband was in training at Hahnemann Medical College Hospital. She was with him during his two years as a Medical Officer in the United States Navy, and resided in Wilmington while he was in specialty training at the University of Pennsylvania.

Judy was an ardent reader and had a love for her garden of roses and daffodils both at home and at their beach house in Avalon, NJ. She was a member of the Canterbury Garden Club and the Greenville Country Club book club. Judy and Anthony shared a love of history, symphony, literature and film. Judy's sharp wit and uncanny knack for getting to the heart of the situation were not to be surpassed. They were inspired travelers and theater goers, especially delighting in their New York apartment and trips to London.

Funeral services are to be held Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Christ Church Christiana Hundred at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Winterthur Museum's garden in care of the Office of Development, 5105 Kennett Pike, Winterthur, DE 19735.
