AGE: 86 • Elkton, MD

Kenneth T. Seibert, "Ken", age 86, of Elkton, MD, passed away at his home Wednesday, January 25, 2017. He was born October 15, 1930, in Bergen County, NJ, to the late Walter E. and Johanna F. Seibert. Ken graduated from Westwood NJ High School in 1948 and the Colorado School of Mines in 1952 with an Engineer of Mines Degree. He spent five years in Newfoundland working for his father's company, St. Lawrence Corp of Newfoundland. Ken moved to Wilmington, DE, in 1957 where he became vice president of St Lawrence Fluorspar, Inc, which ceased operations in the 1960's and formed Straight Line Filters, Inc. where he ultimately became president and remained until they closed in August, 2009. Ken was a member of Beta Pi Chapter of Beta Theta Pi for over 60 years. He and his best friend, confidant, and wife of 40 plus years, Kathryn (Kathy Jones) Seibert, spent many years boating on the Chesapeake Bay in their Mainship and later enjoyed their condo in NJ where they had many friends.

In addition to his wife, Ken is survived by his beloved daughters, Cynthia Prentiss (Michael) and Cheryl Simmons (John); his wife's children whom he loved and considered his own: Richard Gibbons (Donna), Robin Roberts (Richard), Karen Louth (Michael), and Diane Vandervort (Jeffrey); granddaughters: Lauren Knight, Kelly Knight, and Irina Prentiss; step-grandchildren, Megan and Scott Prentiss; his wife's grandchildren: Kathryn Smith (Duane), Michele Boyd (Jay), Stephanie Roberts, Shannon Lopez (Luis), Thomas Gibbons Jr. (Elise), Shawna Bouchelle (Zach Moore), and Krista Roland (Allen); 10 great grandchildren; his sisters-in-law, Judith Taylor (Bob) and Anne Stevens (Ed); and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings: Walter E. Seibert Jr., Donald C. Seibert, Dorothy S. Chidester, and Joan S. Guggeis; and his wife's children, Sharyn Kleitz and Thomas Gibbons Sr.

A visitation will be held Monday, January 30, 2017, from 9:30-11 AM in the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702 followed by a service in celebration of Ken's life at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated in Ken's name to the Class of 1952 Scholarship Fund, Colorado Schools of Mines Foundation, PO Box 4005, Golden, CO 80402-4005.
