Larry Dean Henderson (aka Dusty or Professor) was born on December 26, 1950 in Onancock, Accomac County, VA. Larry developed polio at an early age and was restricted to a wheel chair after that. However, the wheel chair did not prevent Larry from being who he was meant to be. He attended Widener Memorial School thru high school graduation in 1969. After High School graduation he attended Philadelphia Community College until transferring to Wilmington College where he earned his Bachelor's degree in 1978.

Larry was the Executive Director of Independent Resources, Inc. for the past 20 years. Larry served on a variety of committees, boards, and assorted councils such as; Developmental Disabilities Council, National Council on Independent Living, Access Wilmington, Garrett House of Board of Directors, State Council on Independent Living and the State Rehabilitation Council. Larry was a mentor to countless young people with disabilities and shaped their self-confidence. He was a terrific advocate for people with disabilities in Delaware and in the nation.

Larry's Father Fred Kilgo and his sister Althea Leak preceded him in death. Larry leaves to cherish his memories his wife Phyllis Henderson, His mother Bessie Kilgo, 7 siblings Naomi Goodwin (James), Lannie Henderson, Alvin Henderson, Richard Kilgo (Wilma) Andre Kilgo, Bonny Lynch, and Frederica Harris. 2 step children Shanon Andrews and Shawn Elam, Grandchildren Terrance (Meagan), Terea, Brandi, Joshua, Kelsea, and Courtney, 5 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, close friends George Davis, Norris Broadwater, Roland Weeden, and Daryl McCall.

His Life Celebration will be held at 11 am Monday, December 19th at Cathedral of Fresh Fire, 2300 Northeast Blvd., Wilmington, DE 19802; the only viewing will be held from 9-11 am.
