Lenora L. Schumacher

Lenora Learn Schumacher, age 90,a long-time resident of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away at Calvert Manor Healthcare Center, Rising Sun, Maryland on Saturday, May 28, 2016. Lenora was born in Sandy Run, Pennsylvania to the late Simon Phillip Learn and Mary Eva Miller Learn. She was a 1943 graduate of Foster Township High School, Freeland, Pennsylvania and a 1944 graduate of McCann School of Business, Hazleton, Pennsylvania. She earned an Associate Degree in Business Management from the LaSalle Extension University in 1978.

Lenora was employed from 1944-1954 as a stenographer, secretary and English teacher by McCann School of Business. She was employed as a stenographer or secretary by several businesses in Pennsylvania and Delaware. Lenora retired in 1977, after fifteen years of service, from Hercules Incorporated, Wilmington, Delaware as a secretary in the Treasurers Department.

Mrs. Schumacher was a member of Berea Presbyterian Church, Hockessin, Delaware. She and her husband enjoyed their hobby of collecting antique music boxes and were longtime members of the Musical Box Society International.

In addition to her parents, Lenora was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Joseph H Schumacher, by her sisters Letha Morrison, Thelma Sipler, Edith Holland, Lorena Patterson, Eva Meier, Verna Fairchild, and Jessie Herring, and by her brothers, Travis Learn, Clarence Learn, P. Kenneth Learn, Clinton Learn and Eldred Learn. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held on Friday June 3, 2016 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, Delaware, where a funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be private at Laurel Cemetery in White Haven, Pennsylvania at the convenience of the family.
