AGE: 91 • Hockessin

On January 14, 2017, at the age of 91, Leslie Desmond Park passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Formerly a resident of Huntington, NY, he currently resided at Cokesbury Village in Hockessin.

Leslie began his long life serving as a Naval Aviator in World War II. A graduate of Northwestern University, he embarked on a career in Education and soon thereafter began serving the disabled as Executive Director of United Cerebral Palsy in Illinois, Pennsylvania and New York City. Internationally, he worked on special projects in the Bahamas, Bahrain, Nigeria and throughout Europe. Among his many accomplishments, he also published numerous articles and a book about the needs of the handicapped. Upon his retirement from UCP, Leslie created a national non-profit organization, Disabled and Alone/Life Services for the Handicapped.

Leslie was very involved in the life of his church serving as an Elder and adult Sunday school teacher for over 50 years. Of his many passions, Les was an avid gardener and loved to write poetry. His most precious joy was his family and the many memorable celebrations.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 69 years, Jeannette Park; daughters, Kathy Shea, Pam Park and Jane Park; granddaughters, Lauren Cox (Robert), Sara Widdoes (Mike), Lindsey McElroy (Jason) and 4 loving great-grandchildren, Beau, Leci, Cameron and Avery.

A celebration of Mr. Park's life will be held at the Limestone Presbyterian Church, 3201 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808 on Tuesday, January 24 at 9:30 AM with burial following at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central Presbyterian Church, 240 Main St., Huntington, NY 11743 in memory of Leslie Park.
