Lewis Joseph Farina, Jr., age 67, of Unionville PA, died on Saturday, March 11, 2006, at his home. He was the husband of Myrna Taylor Farina.
Born in Harrisburg, he was a son of the late Lewis J and Marion Furjanic Farina. After completing graduate and post-graduate studies, Lewis began his career by teaching mathematics at Kennett High School and in the Red Clay School District in DE. He later entered the corporate world in the financial department of DuPont. During his career with Dupont, his experiences encompassed various areas of fraud auditing and finance. Upon retiring, Lewis began his own quality management and environmental management consulting business. He led many companies to achieve ISO 9001 and 14001 registrations. Some of his clients included the Italian Air Force, Sony, the Department of Defense, W.L. Gore & Associates, and many local and international companies. He was most proud to become a lead auditor certified by ANSI/RAB. Lewis was a contracted independent auditor for BSI, KEMA, and QAI. Lewis taught ISO 9000 classes in the continuing education department of George Washington University and Delaware and Bucks County Community Colleges. He was highly respected for his people skills. In addition to being an Eagle Scout, he was an active community chair member of Troup #22 in Unionville. He also enjoyed sailing with his family on the Chesapeake Bay. If there was water, you could find Lewis relaxing and enjoying the view. He loved spending time with his granddaughters and grandson.
In addition to his wife, survivors include 2 sons, Bruce David Farina, and his wife, Wendy, of Unionville, PA and Dr. Scott Alan Farina, and his wife, Jill, of East Hampton, NY; 1 daughter, Deni-Lyn Farina Lane, and her husband, Jeff, of Unionville, PA; 1 brother, J.A. Farina, and his wife, Marcella, of Mechanicsburg, PA; 1 sister, Jean Anne Pugh, and her husband, David, of Shepardstown, WV; and 7 grandchildren, Nicole, Samantha, Jessica, Emily, Jacqueline, Jackson and Emma.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Friday, March 17, 2006, at Episcopal Church of the Advent, 401 N. Union St., Kennett Square, PA 19348.
