Linda passed away peacefully at her home with family at her side in Ocean View, DE after a valiant fight with breast cancer. She fought hard, kept her spirits up and never gave up until the very end.

Linda was born in Gary, Indiana on November 28, 1950. She lived an active and interesting life, making the beach her home when she retired from her position as Medical Librarian at AstraZeneca in 2005. She moved to Bay Forest in Ocean View from her Bethany Beach house in 2011. Prior to moving to the beach, she lived in Hockessin, DE. Prior to working at AstraZeneca, she worked at Lockheed Martin in NJ. Linda graduated from Valparaiso University in 1971, with a bachelor's degree in education. She received her Masters of Library Science degree in 1977 from Indiana University.

She was very active in a number of clubs and charities, including the Ocean Waves Quilting Guild, serving as co-president in 2014, the Back Creek Yacht Club where she served as the Store Chairperson, Beach Singles, Sussex Birding Club and the Beach Singles Book Club. Linda loved sailing and traveled extensively to many world destinations, including sailing on the Chesapeake, in the Caribbean and through the Panama Canal. She liked to winter in Florida near the beach. An original Mermaid, she loved the sun, ocean, birds, bright colors and this aesthetic appears in the numerous works of art that she quilted in recent years.

Linda was predeceased by her father Joseph Gabriel, Jr. and her mother, Betty Gabriel. Linda is survived by her loving brother, Joseph Gabriel III, his partner Charlie Williamson, her cat Karma and a host of wonderful friends.

A celebration of Linda's life will be held on Friday, September 4th at Melson's Funeral Home, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, DE. Calling hour begins at 10 a.m. and the service will begin at 11 a.m.
