Louis Bonk

AGE: 79 • Odessa

Louis Bonk, 79, passed away peacefully at Seasons Hospice with loving family by his side on Wednesday, October 28, 2015.

He was the son of the late Louis Bonk and Marguerite (Riley) Bonk McGalliard.

He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during Korea. After leaving the Navy, Lou worked with the Painters Union #100. He also worked as an ironworker helping to build the 2nd span of the Delaware Memorial Bridge. Lou then worked for New Castle County as a plans examiner. But his favorite occupation was when he started his own business as a Permit Expediter, which he had to retire from after discovering he had Alzheimer's Disease.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Marguerite Cunningham.

Lou is survived by his wife of almost 50 years Virginia (Young) Bonk; his brother Paul Bonk (Marti); a sister Shirley Rexrode (Rex); 2 stepsisters Karen Pritchett (Fred) and Robin Laws, and stepbrother Richard McGalliard (Theresa).

Lou loved playing golf with his buddies and having his annual golfer's breakfasts.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, November 6, 2015, 12 Noon at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, DE with visitation 11 am to 12 noon. Interment with Military Honors will be at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear.
