Mabel G. Fulton, age 90, passed away peacefully Friday, July 24, 2009 at the Christiana Hospital.
Mabel was born in Mendenhall, PA and was the daughter of the late John and Sydney Griffith. She graduated from Kennett High. Mabel worked for DuPont as a secretary, retiring after 30 years of service. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling the U.S. with her husband and family, playing cards with friends, and helped in fundraising efforts for the Yorklyn Community Pool, but her greatest joy in life was having her family over for Sunday dinner. Family meals were the highlight and center of Mabel's life.
Mabel was predeceased by her son John "Chip" Fulton, III and her brothers Charles and Hammond Griffith. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John R. Fulton, Jr.; children, Ronald Alexander, James Alexander, Sandra Sue Steggell, Gary Fulton, Victoria "Bo" Cicione, and Brian Fulton; grandchildren, Debbie, Mark, Lisa, Paula, Susan, Geoffrey, John IV, Stephanie, Jessica, and Brian; and great-grandchildren, Taylor, Laura, Alex, Brett, Casey, Paige, Mark, Collin, and Jenna.
A viewing will be held on Monday, July 27, 2009 from 7-9 pm at the McCRERY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 3710 Kirkwood Highway (Rt. 2 at Duncan Rd.) Wilmington, DE 19808. The funeral service will be held the following day at 11 am at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 525 Polly Drummond Hill Rd., Newark, DE 19711. Interment will follow at Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Mabel's name to American Diabetes Association, 100 W. 10th ST., Suite 1002, Wilmington, DE 19801.
