Mabel J. Hudson Obituary
Mabel J. Hudson

AGE: 93 • Newark

Died peacefully on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, surrounded by her family. Mabel, born July 5, 1922, was the daughter of the late Martha (Chesser) and John Jackson, of Newark, MD. She married Parker H. Hudson of Frankford, DE and had 63 blessed years together. Known as the matriarch, Mabel dedicated her life to her family, setting a wonderful example. She was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and most importantly, a "GiGi."

She leaves behind a legacy of an adoring family and many friends whose lives she touched. Mabel was known for her wit, sense of humor and her ability to deliver a punch line. Her down-home cooking kept her family united around her table; she will live on through her recipes that have been handed down through her lineage, each one attached to a special story how she cared, comforted, nurtured and encouraged.

Mabel had a deep faith in God that she shared with her family and friends. She was a member of the Five Points Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.

Mabel was spiritually reunited with her sisters and her devoted husband, Parker. She will be forever loved and missed by her daughter, Barbara Jenkins, son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Val Hudson; grandchildren and their spouses, Julie and James Schnatterer, Erin and Geoff Schusteritsch, Brett and Aimee Hudson, Brynn Hudson, Ryan Jenkins; and great grandchildren, Jillian, Blake and Jude Parker Schnatterer, Gabriel and Gavin Schusteritsch, and Emma Hudson.

Family and friends may call on Sunday, December 20th, 2-4 pm at Little Sisters of the Poor, 85 Salem Church Rd, Newark, DE 19713. On Monday, December 21st, 10 am visitation will be followed by an 11am funeral service at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, De. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Little Sisters of the Poor. The family thanks the caring staff at the Jeanne Jugan Residence for their humble devotion to Mabel and to all members of their community. 302-652-5913
