Hockessin - Marcella (Morea) Willson, age 75, of Hockessin, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 9, 2018 at Brandywine Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility after suffering a long time with Alzheimer's. Marcie grew up in Elmont, NY. After high school she joined the Sisters of Mercy and taught in Catholic grade schools for nine years. While a Sister, Marcie earned her BS in Clinical Psychology from St. Francis College in NY. She also attended the University of DE where she graduated with a Masters of Arts degree. Marcie came to DE in 1973 and taught Theology at St. Mark's High School for nine years. After St. Mark's, she was an Adjunct Professor at DE Technical & Community College, Goldey Beacom College, Cecil County Community College, and Antioch University in Philadelphia. In 1986 she began her career at Wilmington University as an Adjunct Professor. In 1998 Marcie was appointed Chair of the Humanities Dept. in the College of Arts and Science where she provided support and faculty development for over 30 adjunct professors in the Humanities, Art and Music. She also taught at the Delaware Memorial Bridge, General Motors, and Chrysler as part of Wilmington University's outreach for adults. She was a committed professor who loved teaching and truly cared about her students, whom she inspired and encouraged so they would succeed. Marcie retired from the University in 2013 due to her illness.

Marcie is preceded in death by her parents, Leo Morea and Myrtle Fetherston. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 36 years, James Willson; brother, Thomas Morea (Ketkanok Nok);brothers-in-law: Jerry Willson (Eleanor), John Willson (Patricia), Robert Willson (Martha), and David Willson (Cindy); sisters-in-law, Patricia Willson and Margaret Hughes (Patrick); 24 nieces and nephews; and 51 great nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Saturday, July 14, 2018, from 10-11 AM at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, 907 Milltown Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Burial will be private. For directions or to send an online condolence visit
