Margaret E. Fox Obituary
Margaret E. Fox

AGE: 91 • Bear

Margaret E. Fox, of Newark, DE and Danville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, February 08, 2017, following a long illness at the age of 91. She was the daughter of the late C. Earl and Helen Dietz and was a graduate of Danville High School. She worked with her father and grandfather, John Dietz, at the Danville Baking Company, and at jobs in the garment industry until she married her high school sweetheart, Herbert H. Fox, in 1944. The wedding took place in the corner of her parents' living room of 408 Pine Street, Danville while Herbert was on a weekend pass from the Navy.

She was a fantastic baker, having learned at her father's bakery. The family recipe for chocolate chip cookies has been enjoyed by many over the years and passed down to the children and grandchildren to share. Margaret even made her skill into a career when she started working at various schools as a baker in the cafeteria. In her spare time, Margaret knitted. She had an incredible talent for creating beautiful sweaters, vests, baby outfits, and afghans. She could take nearly any picture and recreate it with yarn. Margaret and Herbert were avid gardeners too. They started with flowers, having over 300 different varieties of iris in their back yard and huge, beautiful azalea, and rose bushes in the front. Eventually, the iris plants were replaced by vegetables and Margaret added homegrown vegetables to the table.

Margaret was the most wonderful mother and friend. She loved her family more than anything. She was always available to babysit, cook, bake, knit, read, sew, talk, shop, and be there for whatever anyone needed. She will be greatly missed by many. Christmas will never be the same for our family as our father's birthday was on Christmas and our mother's was three days following.

Margaret has now been reunited with her husband Herbert Fox, her parents Earl and Helen Dietz, her sister Lucille Dietz and her favorite aunt Edna Letterman. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her children: Eugene (Sanne), Susan (Paul Yeager), and Cindy (George Peterson, Jr.), her grandchildren: Sandra, NathaniaI, Stephanie, Catherine, Paul, Benjamin, and Christina and her great grandchildren, James, Mya and Tyce.

The family would like to thank the Brandywine Nursing Home where she received excellent and compassionate care while she resided there. We would also like to thank everyone who spent time with her during her last days and whose thoughts and prayers helped ease our minds, lighten our loads and bring peace to our lives. Services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers please make a memorial donation to any . Margaret's favorite charities were anything to do with animals.
