AGE: 94 • Wilmington

Margaret W. 'Marge' Zittere, 94, a resident at The Lorelton in Wilmington and formerly of Chatham NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 2, 2015. Marge graduated from Chatham High School in 1939 and later attended the University of Delaware earning an Associate's degree in Art History.

Margaret worked at Bell Labs in NYC in WW2 where she met her husband Cornelius P. Zittere. Margaret was an active member of Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church for over sixty years, took many classes at the Academy of Life Long Learning, was a docent at The Delaware Art Museum, was a member of the Millcreek Century Club, and belonged to card and knitting clubs. She was a 'Red Hat' and loved going to theatrical performances whenever she could. She loved traveling all over the world with her late husband, Neil, and wintered in Florida for over twenty years. Margaret was an accomplished painter, having taken classes given by the late Edward Loper. She was interested in genealogy and traced her ancestors back to the American Revolution.

Margaret was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, Cornelius P. Zittere, who passed away in 2007; her father and mother, Charles and Jessica Woodruff; sister Eleanor; and brother George.

She is survived by her brother Robert Woodruff (Gertrude) and their children; and sister-in-law Elizabeth Zittere Newbold (Robert) and her children. Margaret is also survived by her children Peter C. Zittere and lifemate Lori Jo Zittrer and his children, Jessica Koopman (Kevin), Erika Anater (Kenny), and Peter Allen Zittere (Trisha); David A Zittere and his children Benjamin D. Zittere (Kate) and Margaret L. Almazán-Zittere (Alex); daughter Carolyn Z. Ferguson and husband Marshall T. Jr. and their son Evan M. H. Ferguson; John R. Zittere and wife Paula; and great grandchildren Van Martin and Lena Fay Anater and David Almazán-Zittere.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 on Saturday October 17, 2015 at Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, 500 McKennans Church Road, Wilmington, with a private interment immediately following.
