AGE: 90 • Wilmington

Marion "Spencer" S. Hoosier, age 90, of Wilmington, DE, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, June 4, 2017. Spencer proudly served in the US Army during WW II. He shared 72 years of marriage with his cherished wife, Ruth. Spencer worked for National Vulcanized Fiber in Yorklyn as a machinist and retired after 30 years of dedicated service. He was a faithful member of Pike Creek Valley Baptist Church. Spencer enjoyed gardening, listening to Christian Country music, and working projects at home.

Spencer is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Hoosier; children: William Hoosier, Carol Hoosier, and Vicky Lewis (John); granddaughter, Rachel Stenger (Josh); great grandson, David; brothers, Ray Hoosier (Kate) and Dean Hoosier; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Millard and Fannie Hoosier.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 14, 2017 from 10-11 AM in the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702 followed by a service in celebration of Spencer's life at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American , 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231.
