Marion Murphy Allison Obituary
Marion Murphy Allison

AGE: 90 • Wilmington

Marion Murphy Allison, 90 of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2016 at Forwood Manor.

Born and raised in Wilmington, the daughter of the late John and Viola Murphy, she was a graduate of P.S. DuPont High School class of 1944. Marion worked for the Wilmington Trust Co., then went on to devote much of her life to volunteering for organizations such as the Red Cross and Meals on Wheels to feeding the homeless. For over 35 years she supported the Wilmington community and the Cathedral Church of St. John as co-director of the Next to New Shop, later serving as a member of the board.

Marion was a loving and caring wife and mother of two, and found true pleasure in her family, home, church and social life. She maintained grace with a touch of class in all that she did. A true giver, often putting other's needs ahead of her own, she cultivated deep and enduring friendships with many - many of whom attended her surprise 90th birthday celebration, much to her delight.

She was predeceased by her husband Russell in 2002, and her sister-in-law Gwendolyn Jackson in 2014. She is survived by son Michael Allison, his wife Anna and granddaughter Emilie of Brick, NJ; son Jeffrey Allison, his wife Elizabeth and grandson Braden of Melrose, MA; as well as a cousin Margaret Saunders of Rye, NY; her sister-in-law Joy Russo (who lovingly helped with her recent care), and her husband Michael of Wilmington, DE; and her sister-in-law Charmayne Norton, and her husband Thomas of Kingfield, ME.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Church Christiana Hundred, 505 E. Buck Road, Wilmington, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Cathedral Choir School of Delaware, 719 N Shipley Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
