Marion (Lazarek) Sailer Obituary
Marion (Lazarek) Sailer

Age 73, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015 at the Christiana Hospital in Newark. Marion was born in Germany, spending her early childhood in Bremerhaven. She moved to the US at nine, then lived in Panama before settling in Ledyard, CT. Marion attended Norwich Free Academy and the University of Hartford, studying abroad in Barcelona, Spain. She lived in Mystic, CT until 1990, when she moved to Delaware, living in Newark and Wilmington. Before her retirement she worked at Dupont and Dade-Behring. Marion was an avid reader. Always up for an adventure, she enjoyed traveling, whether to Philadelphia or Bolivia. Her appreciation of history inspired her love of antiques, and she shared her passion for costume jewelry as a member of the Jewelry Club of Delaware. Marion gave stray cats a good home. We will miss her laughter, appreciation of beauty, sense of fun, quirkiness and kindness.

Marion is predeceased by her parents, Alexandra (nee Bremer) Rousseau and Helmut Sailer; and stepfather Roland Rousseau. She is survived by two daughters, Eleanor Lazarek of Providence, RI and Joanna Lazarek of Cambridge, MA; sisters, Janis Rousseau of Waterford, CT and Gabi Meyer of Petershagen, Germany; brother, Randy Rousseau of Myrtle Beach, SC and significant other Sheridan (Butch) Rand of Uncasville, CT.

Details for a spring celebration of her life will be announced later. Donations in her memory may be made to the Faithful Friends Animal Society in Wilmington, DE.
