Mark Funaro

AGE: 81 • Wilmington

Mark was born in Wilmington on August 26, 1935, son of the late Frank and Theresa (Itarella) Funaro. He was a proficient, talented tile setter and was the owner/operator of Gemini Tile Company for 37 years until his retirement in 2002. His work can be seen in various buildings throughout the state, and was very involved with the building of St. Anthony of Padua Grade School and Padua Academy. He also volunteered with the Little Sisters of the Poor and had served in the Delaware National Guard.

Mark loved to party, eat with family and friends, dance and listen to a variety of music. He enjoyed baking and making wine, and took great pleasure in giving both to others. Kind and generous, he was always ready to lend a helping hand. In his retirement, Mark rekindled his interest in the accordion.

Mark will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Teena (Quatrara) Funaro; his siblings, Ann Marie Rollo, Joseph Funaro, and Carmelita Menton (Francis); his sister-in-law, Celeste Funaro; his nephews and nieces, Vincent Rollo (Jennifer), Michael Rollo (Theresa), Christine Caldwell (Charles) and FrancesAnn Funaro-Marshall (Ragan Sr.); and his great nephews and great niece, Ragan Jr., Frank, Dominic, Elizabeth, Patrick, Anthony and Giovanni.

Mark was predeceased by his brother, Frank A. Funaro, Jr.

Family and friends are invited to visit at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 9th and DuPont Streets, Wilmington on Wednesday, November 16 from 10:00-11:15AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30AM. Entombment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery.
