AGE: 70 • New Castle

Marlene A. McDonough, age 70, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 20, 2016.

Marlene was born in Wilkes Barre, PA on September 3, 1946 and was the daughter of Robert and Helen (Ermak) Magalski. She was a graduate of the Nesbitt School of Nursing in Wilkes Barre and made her career as an ICU nurse at Christiana Hospital, retiring after 40 years of dedicated service to her patients. A woman of strong faith, Marlene was a longtime parishioner of St. Peter's Church in New Castle. She loved spending summer days at the Penn Acres Swim Club where she was a member. A devoted daughter, mother, sister and grandmother, she was happiest in the company of her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored.

Marlene was preceded in death by her father, Robert; and brother, Michael Magalski. She is survived by her mother, Helen Magalski of Larksville, PA; children, Jim McDonough (Donna) of St. Georges, Megan Burg (Tommy) of New Castle and Leigh Ann Frost (Matt) of Smyrna; brother, Robert Magalski of Folsom, CA; and grandchildren, Luke, Kyle, Erin, Erik, Zack, Sean, Kevin, Samantha and Daniel.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am to 11 am on Thursday morning, December 29, 2016 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will be held at at 11 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, c/o Chrisiana Care, P.O. Box 1668, Wilmington, DE 19899.
