Mary was born in Philadelphia and grew up on Grays Ferry Ave in Philadelphia. After marriage she resided in Darby for 59 years, Bellingham Retirement Community in East Goshen for 7 years, then at Gilpin Nursing Home for the last 2 and a half years.

Mary worked as a seamstress at the Blum Store for 35 years and then Bonwit Teller. She was fond to mention that two of the people that she worked on during that time was Princess Grace of Monaco and a daughter of President Roosevelt.
