AGE: 48 • New Castle

Melody Ann Sewitsky, 48, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 1, 2017, after a long battle with cancer.

Melody was born in Elkton, MD on July 11, 1968, and was the daughter of Robert B. Draine of Harbeson, Delaware and Janice L. (Schaffer) Draine of Elkton, MD.

An avid Washington Redskins fan, Melody enjoyed watching football and cheering on her team. Melody worked as a production operator and salesperson most of her life. She was truly selfless, compassionate and enjoyed helping others and participated in the Relay For Life with her family to help raise money and awareness. Melody will always be remembered for putting others needs before her own.

In addition to her parents, Melody is survived by her devoted husband of 26 years, Robert D. Sewitsky; children, Jacquelynn D. Sewitsky and her fiancé, Jake of Florida, Robert D. Sewitsky, Jr. and Katherine R. Sewitsky, both at home in New Castle; sister, Lena M. Draine of Elkton; step-mother, Sharon Draine of Delaware; step-brother, Jason Draine of New Jersey; grandchildren, Alexis, Jordan, Olivia and Aubree; and extended family.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Friday afternoon, April 7, 2017 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a memorial service will be held begin at 2:00 pm. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests performing a random act of kindness in memory of Melody.
