Michael "Mike" Anthony Conley



Michael Anthony Conley, age 48, went home to be with the Lord on October 8, 2015. Mike passed away at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. Born in Wilmington, Delaware on June 3, 1967. Mike was the son of Patricia M. Conley (Bodan) and the late George S. Conley. He was a 1985 graduate of Salesianum High School where he was a member of the football and wrestling teams and he enjoyed playing baseball. Mike attended Goldey Beacom College and Delaware Technical Community College. He proudly served in the United States Army as a chemical specialist during the first Gulf War, being a part of a team that operated the Bradley Fighting Vehicle. Employed for sixteen years at Nemours A.I. DuPont Children's Hospital, his most recent position was application support analyst.

In addition to his Mother, Patricia M. Bodan (Stanley), Mike is survived by his loving devoted wife, Danielle Marie (Gerber) Conley, his beloved fourteen year old son, Aidan Michael Conley and his faithful brother, Christopher Scott Conley (Cindy Morris). He is also survived by his close niece and nephew, Cassidy P. Conley and Zachary R. Conley, several in-law nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and a half-sister. Mike will be sorely missed by several aunts, uncles, cousins and his dog Sam. Besides his Father, Mike is predeceased by his Mother-in-law, Bette V. Gerber and his Father-in-law, Daniel J. Gerber, his maternal and paternal grandparents and his dog Mandee.

Mike was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and enjoyed watching Nascar and Indy racing. He was a World War II history enthusiast and enjoyed doing construction projects at his home, gardening and reading.

The family would like to thank Mike's Nemours family for their continued support and caring throughout his illness.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, Delaware. Burial will be private at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
