Miriam Mazie Obituary
Miriam Mazie

Age 84, a resident of Wilmington, DE, passed away on February 11th, 2017, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.

Miriam was born on February 27, 1932 in Philadelphia, PA, to Gertrude (Schuster) and Louis Gordon. After graduating from Girls High, she worked briefly for the United States Army Signal Corps as an administrative assistant, partially realizing her mother's desire for her to work in an office and marry an executive. However, love led her down a different path and she married Norman Mazie on December 6, 1953, to whom she was a devoted wife until his death on May 17, 2003. Miriam lived on Mancil Road in Media, PA for more than 30 years during which time she was a loving mother and homemaker and an active member of Beth Israel Synagogue. Miriam also lived in Lehighton, PA and Millsboro, DE before moving to Wilmington after her husband's death.

Miriam was energetic and outgoing and loved spending time with her friends and family. She was always the life of the party, with a spirited awareness of current events and an infectious laugh that delighted all around her. Miriam will also be remembered for her sharp sense of humor and her love of animals.

Miriam is survived by her two children, Roselyn Hanlon (Tom) and Eric Mazie (Linda Simon); her four grandchildren, Bryan, Michael and Shelby Sachs and Amanda Mazie; and her two great-grandchildren Alyssa and Ethan Sachs.

The family would like to thank the caring staff of Shipley Manor and Delaware Hospice for helping to make her last year pleasant and comfortable.

All services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her memory to Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, 111 W. 11th Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
