AGE: 83 • Wilmington

Nancy I. Richards, 83 years old, of Wilmington, DE passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2016 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease and ovarian cancer. Nancy died at the Heartland Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Tamaqua, PA on March 17, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Edward C. Zehner and the late Edna Woomer Zehner. Nancy is predeceased by two brothers, Kenneth Zehner and Paul D. Zehner (Carolyn). Following graduation from Tamaqua High School Nancy went to Ford Business School. Nancy and Harold lived in Tamaqua PA, and Washington DC, before settling in Delaware where they spent the remainder of their married life together. Nancy worked many years for Rust Craft Greeting Cards, retiring in 1984.

She is predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, Harold G. Richards, who passed away in April, 2013. In retirement Nancy and Harold enjoyed winters in Florida for over twenty years. Nancy will be dearly missed by her two children: daughter, Diane N. Cannon (David) of Wilmington and son, Lee D. Richards (Cynthia) of Wilmington and her beloved granddaughter, Becky L. Richards. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Carolyn Zehner and Mary Piepmeyer; and many nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful for the wonderful care provided by Heartland Hospice, especially by Jocelyn Aya-Ay and Marquist Ponzo. Nancy also enjoyed the wonderful care and companionship of Suzanne Hamerton.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Monday, March 20 from 10:30-11:30AM. Funeral services will begin at 11:30AM. Interment will be held privately with her family at Sky View Memorial Park, Tamaqua, PA on Tuesday, March 21.
