Nancy Lou Davis Sperry Obituary
Nancy Lou Davis Sperry

AGE: 81 • Wilmington

Our beautiful mother, Nancy Sperry, passed away surrounded by her daughters on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 from a neurological degenerative disease. Nancy was born in 1934 in Dallas, Texas to Kathleen Cruse Davis and Ira Perry Davis. Her family moved from Wichita Falls, TX to Fort Worth where Nancy graduated in 1952 from Robert Lee Paschal High School. She went on to attend Lindenwood Women's College in St. Charles, MO and then the University of Texas, where she was a proud Kappa Alpha Theta sister. Following her marriage, Nancy moved to Wilmington in the late 50's where she raised her three loving daughters. In addition to the rigors of motherhood, Nancy enjoyed her many hours volunteering as a member of the Junior League, the Junior Board, her P.E.O and with the Delaware Historical Society. She went on to jobs at Wilmington Trust and Delaware Trust, as well as the American Cancer Society and Winterthur. After retirement, she was a mentor at Highlands Elementary School. Nancy was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Wilmington for many years. Nancy will forever be remembered for her smile that could light up a room and for her contagious laughter. Even when the disease prevented her from speaking, she always acknowledged her friends and family with her unforgettable grin. We will miss her laughter, her warm heart, her generosity and her beautiful face. The lovely memory of Nancy will live on in all who had the fortune to meet her.

Nancy is survived by her adoring and loyal companion of over 30 years, Paul L. Flynn of Kennett Square; her three daughters: Susan Sperry Dembowczyk, Judy Sperry (Edward) Tarlov, all of Wilmington and Robbie Anne Sperry Dryden of Ocean View, DE; her beloved grandchildren: David (Julie) Krause, Matthew (Erin) Krause, Ashley Lalor, Ben and Anne Tarlov, Kelley (Jon) Burton, Wade and Adam Dryden; great grandchildren: Zhaela, Jason and Lucas Krause; her cousins: Alice Delphinus Coker of Conroe, TX and Cory Woodbury of Roswell, NM; and many nieces and nephews.

Nancy was predeceased by her parents Perry and Kay of Fort Worth, TX; her brother, Dr. Charles P. Davis of TX; and, in 2014, her dear granddaughter, Natalie Davis Krause of Wilmington. The family would like to thank the caregivers from Rockland Place, Seasons Hospice and Bayada for their compassionate care of our mother.

Sweet Dreams, our Yellow Rose of Texas ….. We love you.
