Natalie Bernice King Obituary
Passed away on Oct 6, 2012 in San Diego, CA.

She was born on December 17, 1920 to Morris and Rachel Cooperman. Natalie, an ardent Philadelphia Eagles fan, grew up in Philadelphia on Pine St. near Rittenhouse Square. She graduated from Girls High School in 1938 and from Penn State University in 1941 with a degree in Journalism. She worked at Curtis Publishing Company in Philadelphia before her marriage to Dr. David J. King, an orthopedic surgeon, in 1944. They resided in Wilmington, DE where they raised 5 children.

In 2006 Natalie moved to San Diego to be close to her daughter Hilary and enjoy the fine weather. Natalie's favorite hobbies included ballroom dancing and bridge. She played both party and duplicate bridge, always looking forward to a challenging game. She also enjoyed watercolor painting, attending the opera and listening to political news shows. In her quest for knowledge, she believed "you learn something everyday if you pay attention."

She is survived by her brother, Lawrence Cooperman of San Diego; her sons and daughters, Lanny King of Philadelphia, Moray King of Orem UT, Risa King of Oakland CA, Hilary Stall of San Diego and Brian King of Chicago; her grandchildren Davia King Abram King, Ryan Stall, Lindsay Stall and Michael King.

For over 30 years Natalie worked tirelessly for the health and welfare of others, as a social worker in the DE State Hospital system. She believed "An effort made for the happiness of others lifts us above ourselves." She lives in our memories and laughter.
