AGE: 82 • Dover

Nellie Daniels Hand, age 82, of Dover, DE, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at her home. Mrs. Hand was born August 29, 1933 in Clayton, DE, the daughter of the late Lee C. Daniels, Sr. and Hilda Cummings Daniels. She was a proud homemaker and equal partner in the family business. Nellie enjoyed shopping and camping at her home away from home in Chincoteague. She was a member of the Delaware Farm Bureau for many years, where she served as Chairlady of the Kent County Woman's Committee as well as the Chairlady of the State's Woman's Committee. She was also a member of the Cowgills Corner Homemakers and was a lifetime member and President of the ladies auxiliary of the Little Creek Fire Company.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Ann Stites; her sister and brother in-law, Hilda and William Cox; brother in-law, Ernest Butler; sister-in-law, Elinor Daniels; and her nephew, Mark Daniels. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Willis C. Hand, Sr.; her son, Willis C. Hand, Jr. and his wife Lynn of Dover; her son-in-law, Fred Stites; four granddaughters, Melissa Soccio and her husband Michael, Amy Durham and her husband Jason, Taylor Hand and Courtney Hand; her grandson, Matthew Stites and his wife April; 8 great grandchildren; two brothers, Lee C. Daniels, Jr. and Ralph Daniels and his wife Shirley; her sister, Helen Butler; and many extended family members. She is also survived by her niece, companion and caretaker, Cheryl Daniels as well as other loving and supportive nieces, Joyce Banning and Helen Lewis.

A viewing will be held on Friday, November 6, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm, and again on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 9 am in the Faries Funeral Chapel located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin on Saturday at 10 am. Burial will be held in Townsend Cemetery in Townsend, DE.
