Nilda Soberano Resurreccion, RN BSN

AGE: 80 • Kennett Square, PA

Nilda, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, unexpectedly and peacefully joined the good Lord surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, September 8, 2016.

Nilda was born on January 8, 1936 in Bacolod, Philippines, where she earned her R.N. Degree. She later continued her nursing education working at the Philippine General Hospital in Manila, graduating with BSN from Philippine Women's University. In 1963, she came to the United States to work in the operating room at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Nilda married Dr. Floro Resurreccion in 1964, moved to Wilmington and resumed her nursing career in the operating room of Delaware Hospital until 1967. After a year in New York, she returned to Wilmington and remained busy with their four children. In 1982, Nilda joined her husband in his medical practice, where she worked as his office nurse until their retirement in 2001. They relocated to a community in Kennett Square in 2006.

Nilda enjoyed entertaining and she loved to cook for friends and family, especially the grandkids. She discovered a passion for tennis, which she passed onto her children. She enjoyed going to the movies, shopping and spending time with her family. Nilda had an infectious smile for all those she met and a kiss and a hug for all those who were her friends.

Nilda will be dearly missed by her husband, Floro; four children, David, Donna Sivick (Joe), Doris Kerr (Scott), and Debra Marco (Rob); and ten grandchildren, Dylan and Grace, Sabrina, Troy and Gregory, Isabella, Jackson and Ava, David and Monica. She is also survived by a sister who lives in Iloilo, Philippines.

Nilda was predeceased by her parents, Antonio and Consuelo Soberano; and her sister, Cecelia Gabilongoso.

Friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek, Wilmington on Tuesday, September 13 from 4:00-7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington on Wednesday, September 14 at 10:30AM. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
