Obituary Condolences

Patricia Ann Eddy Gesler

AGE: 82 • Wilmington, DE

Patricia Ann Eddy Gesler, age 82, of Wilmington, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2015. She was a retired social worker from the Office of the Public Guardian for the State of Delaware, as well as a 1970 double honors graduate in Sociology and Psychology from the University of Delaware. During her professional career, she first was involved with helping to provide clients with adoption and child protective services; and later, worked to help provide court appointed guardians for those with dementia and developmental disabilities. After her retirement from the State she worked with a private agency focused on enabling seniors or the disabled to remain in their homes. She really enjoyed her rescue pets; dogs Happy and Katie, and cat Precious. She liked to read; attend U of Del concerts and plays; gardening; and going to Cape May, NJ. She was also a dedicated member of the First Unitarian Church since 1960. Although a proud Delaware Blue Hen, she grew up in Braintree, MA and remained a die-hard New England Sports fan.

She was predeceased by her father, Melvin David Eddy; her mother, Grace Eddy Pierce; her sisters, Marjory McClelland; Faith McLarnon; and her brother, Melvin Eddy. She is survived by her four children, Keith Gesler (Kathy), Kristina Anderson, Karen Grauer (Bill) and Karla Greth (Chip); her grandchildren Melissa (Angela), Eric, Sarah (Amanda), Christopher (Jessica), Andrew (Jeannine), Jessica (Mike), Katelyn, Amanda, Billy and Keith; and her great grandchildren Rory, Willow, Wesley and Gavin. Her favorite people were her children: she was very proud of all of their growth and family successes. She was totally in love with her grandchildren and especially her great grandchildren where she was often heard to exclaim that 'any time spent with them was a special time indeed'. She felt privileged to enjoy the diversity of her friends.

Services will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 2:00PM at the First Unitarian Church, 730 Halstead Road, Wilmington, DE 19803.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Collie Rescue of Southeastern Pennsylvania at www. or P.O. Box 493, Ambler, PA 19002.
