Patricia M. Galloway Obituary
Patricia M. Galloway

AGE: 81 • Wilmington, DE

Patricia M. Galloway age 81 of Wilmington, DE died on Wednesday October 21st,

2015. Cared for by her loving family in the last few weeks of her long life, she lost her battle with cancer. In keeping with her character, she died with grace and inspired us all as we came together to say our goodbyes. With a wave, a smile and a hug for each of us she instructed, "Don't be sad for me. I've had a great ride". We miss her now. We will miss her always.

She graduated from Auburn High School in Auburn, New York where she was born. She was an Administrative Assistant and Bookkeeper and was still working into her 80th year. She had lots of energy and even more friends. Her social circle was a wide one and she belonged to the "Diamond Dolls" Chapter of the Delaware Red Hat Society, bowled regularly in a local league and acted as her team secretary. She was also very active in the VFW Hall--Burke post #5447 in Holly Oak, DE where she was the Treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband Joseph C. Galloway, III of Wilmington, DE and five of her seven children; her daughter Breeze Hodson Tonnesen and her husband Mark Tonnesen of Vineyard Haven, MA, her son Mark F. Hodson and his wife Diane Hodson of Avondale, PA, her daughter Dawn M. Schafferman and her life companion Darren Woodgate, both of Millsboro, DE, Wayne Hodson and his wife Ann Hodson of Ramstein Air Force base in Germany and her son Dana W. Hodson and his wife Kelli Sekk--Hodson of Woodbridge, VA. Her son Norman G. Hodson, II died in December of 2007 and her daughter, Michelle M. Martine, passed away in November of 2010. She had the great good fortune of having seventeen grandchildren and eight great-- grandchildren, all of whom called her Mom Mom. Her friends supported and loved her, and there are far too many of you to mention here, but you know who you are.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 29th at 5:00 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Home located at 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE followed by a reception at the Hall--Burke VFW Post 5447, at 1605 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington DE.

The family respectfully asks that in lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to

Chadds Ford Hospice, 5 Christy Drive, Suite 103, Chadds Ford, PA 19317.
