Obituary Condolences

Patrick F. Diamond

Patrick F. Diamond, 71, of Wilmington, died unexpectedly after a brief illness on September 9, 2015.

Pat was born in Wilmington, the only child of the late Curtis and Isabel Diamond, and the family moved to Rehoboth Beach where Pat was raised, graduating from Rehoboth High School. He was the owner of Goody's Restaurant on Foulk Road in Boothwyn where he shared his love of cooking with his love of people - making his customers feel welcomed and at home. Later in his life, he drove a school bus for the Brandywine School District, taking pride in getting his students safely to and from school. Pat was a faithful Episcopalian and much of his life was centered on Grace Episcopal Church where, for the past 12 years, he volunteered, and served with distinction, as the church's cemetery administrator/caretaker and general "go to" guy for property issues and facilities management. Pat was genuine, loving, caring, and out-going. He was a real "people-person" and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and church-family.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Diamond and their daughter, Amy Diamond.

A funeral service will be held at 11am, Tuesday, September 15 at Grace Episcopal Church. The interment in his beloved churchyard will be held privately. Pat had hoped to enhance the beauty of the cemetery by having it populated with more trees, so to honor his wish and in lieu of flowers, the family suggests honoring the memory of Patrick F. Diamond by sending a contribution to The Grace Church Cemetery Fund, 4900 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. Messages of condolence may be sent to www.mccreryandharra.com
