Paul C. Cataldi, Retired Smyrna School District Administrator

Paul Charles Cataldi, 77, of Lewes, DE and formerly of Camden, DE passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 28, 2015. He was born October 14th, 1938 in Dover, DE, son of the late Frank and Connie Analore Cataldi.

Paul was a graduate of Caesar Rodney High School, Camden, DE class of 1957. In his early years, Paul served in the U.S. Coast Guard on the HALF MOON. He had worked for the Smyrna School District as Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds for 17 years.

Throughout his life, Paul was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting as well as fishing. Some highlights were his fishing trips to Canada and Alaska with his friends and family. Paul took great pride in his garden and had a green thumb. In the winter months, he loved snowmobiling in the Adirondack Mountains with his family. Paul was an active construction volunteer for the Sussex County Habitat for Humanity for over 10 years. In addition to work in Sussex County, he undertook several Jimmy Carter work project trips to Mexico and the Gulf Coast.

Paul was very close to his family especially his five grandsons who knew him as "Papa". He will always be remembered by his grandsons for the time they spent together on adventures such as fishing and crabbing with a trotline.

Paul will be remembered as a loving husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his sister, Carole C. Davenport as well as his brother, Frank Cataldi. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Barbara Cataldi; two children: Carin C. Patterson of Elkton, MD and Paul B. Cataldi of Oxford, PA; five grandchildren: Cade Michael Patterson, Brayden Paul Patterson, Gavin Robert Patterson, Dominic Paul Cataldi and Anthony Wyatt Cataldi; two brothers: Joseph Cataldi of Camden, DE and Benjamin Cataldi of Felton, DE.

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2015, at 3:00 PM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958 where friends may visit beginning at 2:00 PM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions may be made to the Sussex County Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 759, Georgetown, DE 19947.
